How many alternator poles does my 69 115 have?

Hey guys Im looking to hook up my teleflex tach and I need to know how many poles my alternator has to set it correctly? Ive tried looking in the manual but haven't come across anything like that. Does anyone know how many poles I have by chance? or can tell me how to figure it out? thanks alot guys

try the 6 pole setting....

You have 12 poles and 6 pulses. 6P is the normal setting for your motor.

yes I understood what you meant and thanks, as for the switched 12v where do I get that bc I don't have any other source of power on my boat its basically a motor/boat that is all no lights etc right now as it stands, can I just get it from the battery to have the gauge power up lighting doesn't matter right now i jsut want to see where my rpms are. I know my grey wire in my contorl box is my tach signal but thats about it, the owener before me had a tach hooked up, there is a grey wire a white wire and a black wire hanging out of the unit, are those the wires I use?

Sure sounds like it. Pulse, positive and negative.

just went and hooked up my tach and everything worked perfectly thanks guys I appretiate all your help
