So I own One boat 21ft Glastron IO ski boat great for taking it out myself or with some family or friends. Try to keep it 6 people at most. So what If I want more people 8-10 people? I'm thinking 24ft Ski boat. Do I keep the other boat. I'm thinking I should for easier to handle going out alone and less on gas. Can you own too many boats? Is one boat too many LOL

So how many boats do you own and what is their primary purpose besides getting out on the water?

Six.

One is a family boat, one is a fishing boat that I go out solo in (and doubles as our family vacation boat), one is a jetski, one is an antique classic for special Sunday rides, one is my old fishing boat that really shouldn't be in the list because i gave it to my son, and the last is a dingy on our pond (which probably shouldn't be in the list either.

In any event, we have 4 daily drivers.

A week ago it was 5 between " us " ( wife, two sons )
sold a 15 ft ski boat last weekend ( yay! )

4 left, obviously

15 ft 1981 fg runabout/ tender, 70 hp Chrysler ( deceased )

early 70's 23 ft cabin cruiser, TAMD 40 ( trailer boat )

29 ft timber displacement cruiser, unknown vintage, toyota hilux diesel, bought as a $500 project ~ around 2 months ( marina berth )

30 ft 1989 fg flybridge cruiser, twin 2013 5.7 mercruiser donks ( swing mooring )

we live on a island, marina is a block away ( very handy )
boats are all used in saltwater for a bit of fishing, diving and coastal cruising
apart from the 15ft runabout, bit too small for most of that

no freshwater boating for us anymore

If you've got more stuff in any category than you can effectively take care of, or care to take care of...

I think I've been in that boat (...) for some years now. At least I traded off the motorcycle when I got started with my one boat. I just don't know what happened to that spot in the garage where I used to park it.

Two boats 20 and 26 feet ones got one purpose the other has a few purposes.

I used to keep a small row boat for steelhead fishing a river that worked best rowing.

Too many...
We are snow birds with homes in Florida and Michigan. 2 BIG boating areas, if not the biggest!

In Florida, we had a pontoon boat for many years, but recently sold that and went with a 22' deck boat because it seemed like it was taking forever to get anywhere when we had a destination in mind. There's also a 17.5' fishing boat I use to put some time on engines that have had major work done on them.

In Mi, we have a freshly completely rebuilt pontoon that was supposed to be our "forever" boat (or so we thought). In addition to the pontoon, we now also have a second deck boat that's under major renovation. Another complete rebuild using only the aluminum over again. This after falling in love with the deck boat in Florida. We also have a second 17' fishing/test boat.

So 5 boats, all aluminum. Likely to go to 4 one of these days....

1980 Sea Ray Bowrider
Pontoon
2004 Sea Doo RXP
1997 Sea Doo GSX

With little kids right now, the old Mantra of spending time working on boats vs enjoying them is coming into play. We will probably be selling both the pontoon and Sea Ray for a decent TriToon we can trailer on vacation and still ski behind (we are by no means professionals so don't need a $200k tow boat).

We will also be looking at selling the old Sea Doo and getting another modern 4 stroke Sea Doo that is intercooled (save time winterizing in Wisconsin)

Hopefully at this time next year, I will be in a reliable Pontoon with a good four stroke that can handle water sports, and have 2 reliable PWC so I can spend weekends enjoying the lake rather than chasing electrical gremlins on 20, 30, even 40 year old boats.

7 if you count my Sunfish sailboat. How many own 2 of the exact same model? Got a '79 and '85 Glastron/Carlson CVX18. Waiting for a California Special CVX18 to come along then I'll have 1 to give to each of my 3 boys!

Oh I think I'm up to ten now, and I'm thinking of one or two more at the moment. Admittedly a number of them are historical / restoration projects.
