I have twin 200 HPDI Yamaha's (2004) with around 1200 hours. Just wondering, is there an average lifetime I can expect with these engines? Anyone care to chime in with their experiences/current hours?

How many hours can I expect to remain alive?

What I am trying to convey is that it is impossible to answer your question. No one is tracking all Yam engines to come up with an average life. If there were average lifetimes in hours, then a question may be, are your engines "average".

Many HPDI owners have over 2000 hours on their motors. Hopefully, you can get the same with yours.

Some may come here and report they have 4000 hours on theirs with nary a hickup. Some may say they are on their third power plant with but 300 total hours. The life of your particular motors may be somewhere between the two. The somewhere will remain an unknown.

Good luck with yours.

I have a 200 hpdi 05 and has 1600hrs. asked the exact same question to several mechanics. they have told me the low 2000 but its really unknown and depends on a number of factors. how well the motor has been taken care of, quality of the oil used, use of ring free or other additives and luck.

Seems a motor that is run very often does a lot better than one that is run seldom and fuel goes south
