Re: How many hours do you have on your outboard?
I have no idea because all of my motors are old and don't have an ability to read hours. They are all also motors that I bought from others and most of them probably have had several owners.
I tend to run 30 - 40 year old motors, and even own a couple of 50 year old motors, so I would say that all of them have lots of hours on them. I also run my motors for long periods of time fairly frequently.
The one that is currently on my boat (1972 Johnson 65hp) is sometimes run for 6 - 8 hours nonstop, when I am doing SAR missions. At other times, my usage is more typical of the average boat. I also had a sort of strange setup once that involved a pair of 6hp Johnsons on a 15 foot boat. Those motors were often run for up to ten hours a day, on the days that I used the boat. I would guess that they averaged about 15 hours a week for five years, for a total of 3,900 hours. I just noticed recently that one of them, which is now on a rack in my shop, has a frozen powerhead, but the other one is on my boat as a kicker and is run often.
