Like little boys who act up in class terrorists are looking for a "reaction". Unfortunately they didn't expect the reaction that they got. They were probably counting on a reaction like they got from Spain. The jerks at the top of this food chain are IMHO not interested in giving the US population another reason to rally. They are biding their time and watching our country continue to go soft on terrorists, watching us start to blame ourselves and pursecute our own troops, and when they think we have gone soft enough, something will go boom.

I expect another in about 18 months. The reaction of congress with their "new" leadership will then dictate their course from there. They do not want to deal with an ANGRY United States. They are looking for a concilatory reaction. I hope we are smart enough to react vigorously and decisively. But I have my doubts.

I believe JB's point was that we were all complacent. I think that is a) obvious and b) honestly admitted by anybody that was in this country.

Oh, oh and I know prior to 9/11 I wondered why we weren't being hit while much of the world had experienced many more cases of terrorism. Is it possible in your world that we actually do have better intelligence and that this is a good thing? I would much rather invade Iraq because we believed they had WMD, than not, and find out the hard way that they did . . . Why do I waste my time . . . and I thought we were actually communicating.

BTW, I believe your accurate observation is indeed cynical.

My outspoken dislike for W has clouded your vision and you are beginning to see/hear/read things that are not there. So you see, I am not asking to have it both ways. I simply asked, what does Clinton have to do with 9/11?

So I would disagree with being called a cynic. Unless you can show me where I said something different, I guess we know who the cynic is...don't we. Your observations are far less than accurate on this one.

Your first post in this thread placed the blame directly on Republicans and W. I didn't need any Clinton piece to push me there. Have you noticed that I have NEVER used Clinton in any of my posts? Well, I did invoke the name of Lewinsky once within an attempt at humor that I thought was pretty funny, but I digress . . . I think it is reasonable for me to ask you to give some credit for not being attacked if you insist on placing the 9/11 blame on anyone but the evil doers . . . I am not seeing things, they are plane as day within your posts.

I also, fear that the left may lead us back to complacency. I think the right would tend to become complacent more slowly. That there is an observation which may prove not to be accurate and is also not cynical. I actually take my words seriously and am not intending to play any games. It feels, however, that your game is simply partisan which in fact makes it a cynical game.

You cannot possibly prove all of these. However, I will choose not to argue them and accept them as such. I will simply say that the democrats evidently did not find it appropriate to attack a nation that had nothing to do with any of these attacks. We did not attack "terrorist," after 9/11, we attacked Iraq, remember. A country that never terrorized us.
