No......not that....

As I was cleaning the boat today after a nice morning on the lake, I went through the "log book" I keep on the boat. We launched and retrieved 76 times in 2010 and put 98.7 hours on the engine. We are 45 minutes to the nearest lake and about the same driving time to get to the nearest ocean launch (trailer in tow).

Do you guys keep logs? And if so, how many times did you do it in 2010?

BTW, I am not a fisherman - just a pleasure boater.

I don't keep a log but I try to remember how many hours I do in a year. A good year logs about 100 hours or so. I like the idea of a log book. Maybe I'll try that in 2011.

Don't feel too bad. That's 3 more times than my boat was out since I bought it over 2 years ago.

76 times and a 45 minute tow:eek::eek:

Get a slip allready.

BTW I'm really just jealous of how much you get to enjoy your boat.

30+ times and 124 hours on the engines.

2 of those trips were 250 mile vacations in the boat!!!

Re: How many times did you do it in 2010?

This past season I spent 111 days aboard my boat. I took 7 trips. I covered 365 miles and put 22.3 hours on the engines. I was laid off so my gas money was limited but time was not.

I spent $920.01 on fuel. I went through 275.01 gallons of fuel.

My longest trip I was gone 7 days, shortest trip 2 days.

I had to replace the engine water pump on my starboard engine. I also replaced the water heater pressure relief valve. Fortunately those were my only repairs in 2010.

All in all I had a good season.

50 minutes to 4 hour tow, depending on where we go.

30+ trips, close to 350 hours on the motor. No idea how many miles we traveled. Figure 50-100 miles a trip so we're looking at 1.5-3k miles last year

Mariah Docked.jpgI took my boat out 27 times and recorded 99 hours. Usually trailer her 45 minutes away. Mostly pleasure boating but a few water sports days thrown in. I do not keep a log.....the reward of boating outweighs the cost. Priceless.

Re: How many times did you do it in 2010?

i didn't keep a log this year. 1st year i didn't since i got my boat (4 years ago).
i do know about how much i went out though. got out about 30 timess + or -. most were over nighters for one day at my local watering hole. one trip to lewis and clark up in the NE corner of Nebraska.
figure i put about a hundred hours or so on my rig. no idea how close that is to actual time though. i don't have a hour meter.

Re: How many times did you do it in 2010?

I keep a log also. We went out 14 times and put on 42 hours. Our boating season is from May - October. The OP has some serious patience to haul his boat 76 times in a season. I go to a couple of different lakes 2-3 times per year and thats plenty.
BTW - I think keeping a log along with the hisory of the boat is a good thing especially when you sell it.

Re: How many times did you do it in 2010?

You peeked my curiousity, I do keep a fish log and went went fishing 16 times then took it out to just mess around and swim another 4-5 times.

Checked my Garmin and I went 228 miles total and was moving 53 hours, alot of that on the troller or blowing in the wind, and had a total of 210 hours on the boat.

Good thing you posted this or I may have forgotten to reset everything, I REALLY like my Garmin.

Only 2 1/2 more months till I can get back out, UGH, it is currently 19.9 degrees out.

One thing I hate about Indiana, it is too cold to use the boat but not cold enough to make ice to ice fish unless you are crazy and will go on 2''-3''.

Re: How many times did you do it in 2010?

I do not know how many times we launched and retrieved, but I know we put about 150hrs on the engine . During the summer we go out at least 3-4 times a week. Takes us bout 40 minutes to get to the river from our house.
This summer will be les launching and more hours. Since we now have a place on the river.

Re: How many times did you do it in 2010?

on the boat with a meter, about 125 hours (excludes drifting so on-the-boat hours exceeds engine hours!) and used 2-3 times a week in the summer; once a week in the spring and fall; none in the last 3 weeks due to freezing temps and 25 mph winds! Will go this weekend when the snow on it melts, and will try to run at least every other week until spring.
The other boats, one is down, the other one about 5 times, and about 8 times in a shared boat.

Re: How many times did you do it in 2010?

I'm glad I saw this thread. It's the perfect time for me to start a log being I just bought the boat and it's about to be the new year. I love living in Texas! I'm taking the boat out on Saturday!! It's supposed to be mid 70's! Gotta love it :)
