how much are taxes on your boat?

No boat tax here in NY.<br /><br />Wonder how that slipped through the system?<br /><br />Paid state sales tax when purchased boat.<br /><br />Just cost $40 for 3 year registration, which just increased this year.<br /><br />Only paid $18.50 three years ago.

Nope, no tax in GA. Just advelorem on the trailer (like your car) and state registration of the boat. $36 for three years for an 18'.

No Boat taxes here either, or sales tax. Just annual registration fee and a tax on the trailer. One of the few things Minnesota does not tax!

Yeah.<br /><br />Don't know how in tax intensive Ontario they don't tax boats.<br /><br />Pay the sales tax upon purchase and no other tax is required.

Here in CA we pay a luxury tax when purchasing boat. Registration-$10<br />Boat ramp- $30 annual pass

sales tax when purchased 7.8% at the time closer to 10% now. Yearly for boat and trailer about $35.00 <br />Ramps average 5 bucks week days and 10 bucks weekends but there are free ramps also. Unless we are taking other people who need to have a dock we always use the free ramps

In Califpornia the bi-annual boat registration is $10.00, good for two years, thus the term "bi-annual." (duh)<br /><br />A couple of years ago, they quit charging an annual trailer registration and came out with a "PTL" sticker. It stands for "permanent trailer license" and replaces the annual sticker. It costs $10.00 and is good for 5 years, as I recall.<br /><br />The PTL is good for all trailers, including freight haulers, bottom dumps, travel trailers, etc.<br /><br />Why it was done, heaven only knows, but I like it.<br /><br /> ...Bob in Calif...

Only in CA would a "permanent trailer license" be good for 5 years! . The PTL is $50 here in VA, but it's a one time fee then it's... permanent! (imagine that!)<br /><br />-Roger

Just sales tax at purchase. Then sales tax again for person who purchases when sold. And then tax again next time sold. And so on. A boat is sales taxed indefinitely in Wisconsin.
