I have a Minn Kota 30. 12' inflatable boat. 2 people. How many Amp Hours for a battery do I need so I can stay out on the water for as long as possible?

is the Optima Blue Top 55AH battery good to use? Ive seen some with 125 AH.

Thanks in advance!

All motors will draw different amperage. If it?s the Endura 30, at most, it will draw approximately 30 amps. Using lower speeds will draw fewer amps. The less amps that are drawn, the longer the battery will last.

It all depends on how you will be using the motor and how long you expect to stay out. I have an Endura 30 and a 80 Amp hour battery. I mainly use it for trolling in speeds 1 and 2 so it usually lasts for a really long time. If I use it for just cruising around the lake on speed 5, it will only last a couple hours. More amp hours = more time on the water.

Generally Optima?s are ok batteries. They?re sealed so they won?t leak. On speed 5, that battery will only last you about 2 hours. If you have access to a regular deep cycle battery with 125ah I?d go for that. It will last you twice as long as the 55ah.
