Re: How much damaged am I looking at?
Ikea, are there any signs of mud clogging any of the ports in the foot? Grounding the boat at 30 mph could bend the prop shaft. I've seen shafts bent with minor strikes with stainless steel props, they transfer the shock to the shaft. Aluminum props may absorb the bulk of the damage, but nothing beats knowing the water your in. Memorial Day weekend, had the family out on the water, 2 teenage boys with 5 teenage girls, came flying past me, in a brand new bow rider, cut across a shallow area MARKED with a hazard buoy grounded, threw the 2 girls sitting in the bow 20 feet in front of the boat. Thank God they landed in deep water. This happened within 20 feet from me. After making sure everyone was ok, I asked the driver what he was thinking. His reply was it was his first time in this part of the water. You have asked for advice. Know the water your boating in.
