Ok if you have the reducer the formula is 2 cups paint 1/2 cup Reducer (if needed add another 1/4 cup if it doesn't come out of the gun good) 1 tablespoon of Hardener. Mix well let set for 10 mins Mix well let set for 10 mins Mix well let set for 10 mins mix well pour in gun, Shoot it!!!! That should be simple enough!!!!

I got the ole arithmatic going, I used 16oz of paint, 2oz reducer, and 1oz hardener. As you had mentioned i mixed well and let it cook until I had reached 30mins, loaded the gun and it went on great!!!! I'm so happy with the results I hate to scuff it tomorrow and shoot a second coat.

WOW!!! I'd say you got it figured out pretty well. Looks GREAT!!!! Did you get any Orange Peel? Hard to tell from the pic. 2oz of reducer doesn't seem like much...but if it flowed from the gun ok then GREAT!!!! No Worries about the scuffin. The second coat will look even better!!!! But ya know that sure doesn't look like a 16' Glass Bass boat. Kinda looks like a 14' TIN John Boat!!!!!!! What's up with DAT????

To answer your first question, no I did nothave any orange peel at all. I set the gun the same as when I sprayed the primer, it worked out great.
I know that this boat looks a little like a 14ft tin boat, thats because this is my old stand-by, this is my very first boat.I stopped working on the Hydra Sports when I got a rather severe case of fiberglass dust. I had bought an old '89 Ford F150 XLT Lariet. This changed the game plan a bit, so I decided to redo my Jon Boat, thats a lot simpler and less costly compared to the Bass Boat, and I did some restorations to the truck as well. Now I have a blue/white truck to pull both of my blue boats and I didn't have to change the color of my Big Bronco.
I hope this sheds a little light on the things that can happen when you injest fiberglass dust
p.s. when I finish with the tin boat I will return to the Bass Boat, I still have that Need For Speed. Lol

OH...Ok!! Yep, the Glass dust is NOTHING to Fool with!!!! Well the Tin Boat Looks GREAT!!! Ya Done Right Good!!!!! Couple more coats and she'll be ready to splash. Catch some fish and have a Big Fish Fry!!!!!

I hope to be back on the lake soon, I have to carpet the inside,and make a few panels and a storage console. I have made the livewell and ran the plumbing for it, cut a new transom, I just need to waterproof it and buy a small outboard and I'll be finished with that one.
Do you suggest applying 3 coats of paint? or will 2 be enough to finish?

That is...If you have enuf paint. Don't buy more to get a 3rd coat. Two will get the job done. But three gives a bit more depth to help with scratches.

Thats not a problem, when I purchased paint I bought a gallon not knowing that I was not going to use half of that. I will have used 1.5 quarts to paint 3 coats. Same for the reducer, I only needed a pint and I got 2 pints, I can return that other pint, I'll have plenty left after I spray this other coat tomorrow.

The third coat is on and looking good. I'll let it dry for a few days then turn her over and go to work on the inside and also replace my logo's and registration numbers.

It'll take a minimum of 72 hours for it to get a good cure.

I'm not in a big hurry, after all of that work I can wait 72hrs. I don't want to rush into it and make a mess of the ball game.
