On those kind of jobs I prefer to use copper or lead mallets.

You get the energy where you want it, in the direction of travel.
A steel hammer, half the energy goes into bouncing the hammer back again!

A deadblow would be good to use.. Lead?? I haven't seen one.. Must cause cancer:rolleyes:
