Iran!Iran!Iran! Its been in the news nonstop now for days, and in the backround for the last few years.<br />"If" the UN decides to "enforce" trade sanctions due to the the recent rhetorical escalation between Iran and the West.<br />What should one estimate the price for a gallon of gas to be by the time this summer boating season arrives?<br /><br />My guess is $3.50 per gal of regular :(

I aint replacing my 50hp, bought another boat for motor to change out the 50 hp. I aint putting up with 6 gal.s per hr fuel consumption. I tried it out when fuel was over $3. Im too stingy for that.

That's exactly what they said last year.<br /><br />"It will be over $3 for sure"<br /><br />"It will probably be at least $4.50"<br /><br />"It might go over $5"<br /><br />"Hey, I can say whatever I want on TV and people believe me - I better freak everyone out about possible disasters that likely won't happen. Oh wait, did I say that outloud?"<br /><br />What really happened? It stopped at about $2.79. It jumped for a short time, but that was an unpredictable act of god, not politics.

For a very short time only because of an act of god. Politician based prices were not well over $3 anywhere in this country.

T.Boon Pickens told us we would see $3 gas by Christmas way back in June, Thats an Oil man talking not a hurricane. Hope he took bets and made a few more million. :)

Gas was sub $2 most places by christmas...and most places never went over $3 not counting the hurricanes. Lots and lots of "experts" were claiming it would be well over $3 for a long long time, and they were just plain wrong. The same thing happens every year.

Oil is just like land "thier not making any more of it" Time will take its toll. <br /><br />China is moving into the oil market and cornering the south American market. <br /><br />Lots of the wells in arab land are playing out and needing secondary recovery methods. Let us face facts we will never develop Alaskan oil until it is way past time to do so.<br /><br />You will see thoes oil prices continue to rise. We are yet to see the price at the pump fully reflected by $60 a barrel oil. We only had prices of $1.70 per gal in the early 80S and oil prices in the US were @ $38.<br /><br />May not happen this year, but it surly will happen.

Gas prices will certainly slowly rise...they always have and always will. These crazy predictions of $3-4-5 gas in the near future; however, never come true. The people saying it just want to be quoted on TV. We'll be stuck between 2 and 3 bucks for many years to come.<br /><br />Seriously, they do this EVERY year. The only time it ever comes true is during a natural disaster.

Iran, bans on drilling in ANWAR, and offshore of Florida. Add to this, the efforts by some to thwart local supplies, their banning of refinery construction (the "not in my back yard or yours" mentality)-- Add the fact that there are only ten acrhaic, yet still-functioning refineries in this country, FORCED to refine varying grades of fuel just to meet silly state-sanctioned ordinances, and six buks per gallon is in our future. We can TRY to do something about this, but in the end, it is inevitable.<br /><br /><br />Because of two hurricanes and the spread of "citrus canker" (a blemishing fungus that does not effect the actual fruit), i can't get oranges and i live in florida, 3 miles from a grove, and 7 miles away from a processing plant.<br />On top of that, the state's "orange tree mafia" keeps walking right up to young trees on my property, looking for an excuse to remove them...And there is NOTHING i can legally do about it!<br /><br />Life draws vacuum sometimes. But with God's help, i'll deal with it. In the meantime, I'll keep watering and fertilizing those young trees, and paying whatever i must to purchase enough gas to get to church and werk next week.

It certainly gives rise to pause, if the Iranians are turning up the screws to reap higher revenues from their emensely lucrative export, they are indeed playing a dangerous game, shooting one's self in the foot is and will be excruciatingly painful, i'm quite sure that they will end up finding that out the hard way, none too soon no less.

The obvious basis of your rantings is rather selfishly invoked, this crisis which we now face has been brewing for sometime, to suggest that it is merely a right wing or a left wing or for that matter a republican or democrat agenda, is but utter nonsense, this maybe touted as an American problem, it is by far much greater than that, this is a world problem and we surely need to include all of the energy consuming nations with us if we are indeed to take any form of action towards Iran, while we may pay more at the pumps, our economy has the strength to weather the subsequent rise in inflation, which i fear is not so amongst many others who still happen to buy American made products and American services.
