How much HP

I just went thru a nightmare taking care of my hydrolocked engine. During that i stubled into service manuals etc for my boat and engine combo and wonder how much HP does my boat actually have. Does anyone know?

It is a 1995 Chris Craft Concept 18 with A Volvo-Penta 4.3 GS with SX drive. I have seen the GS model rated at 220hp all the way down to 175 based on what pamphlet i look at. I think the GS meas it is a 4BBC vs a 2BBC. All i can see on the outside is Holley

Anyone know??

The 4BBl carb 4.3LX (Mercury's entry) was rated at 205HP. I would think the V-P is the same. The 220HP was the MPI I believe

merc of that vintage were rated 155hp(2bbl) and 175hp(4bbl) at the prop. VP will be plus or minus a couple of ponies, but very close. - different exhaust, cam etc.

Actually - if you got to the VP website you can search the database all the way back to 1907.

If it is just a GS and not a GS**** then it is 225hp.

It simply says on top of the carb "Volvo Penta 4.3 GS"

I saw how the ratings are all over from 175-225 that is a big difference.

It is a 18'6" chris craft and does exactly 50 on a handheld GPS, what sounds right??

50 mph on the water is very respectable for any size boat......

forget the hp rating.....and enjoy the great fuel econemy and a good speed
