how much is a 57 evinrude worth

I have a running 1957 evinrude 35hp motor. {my brother-in-law gave it to me for helping him move] I was wondering how much it is worth. I want to try and get a newer motor. I'm not much on old boat motors. All I do is fish on rivers and I don't think it would be right to put that motor on the flood chanel

if is a lark...running with the electric start it might be worth something but it would be hard to find a seller for such a motor in certain areas....i know in NY they are desirable because they look awesome on the back of woden adarondack boats...TRY EBAY.

Just my opinion:
If it idles well, holds gear without slipping out at full throttle, and isn't too banged up and complete, I'd say about $200 to $300. Most folks are like you and don't want to take a chance on an oldy. Personally, I'd love to have it!

if it has good compression, holds in gear, electrics replaced i would run it. with proper upkeep, it could be reliable another 50 years.

thanks guys.... The motor runs great it is electric strart. I just don't like the thought of putting a good classic on back of a alum. river boat just a waste of a good looking motor it should be on back of an old woodie

Does it have a tiller? If so, just the tiller alone would probably fetch over 50$ on ebay. Tashasdaddy is right, they will last a long time. It definitely would look better on an old boat but ....... I'd have to use it.JBJ

no tiller. everything is remote. My brother in law gave me motor a alum. 15ft flat bottom, and 2 trolling motors. I want to sale the boat, motor, and trolling motor. The trolling motor is hand control 36 volt 109lbs of thrust. I also have a old 5hp motor for sale. I dont know much about boats{I still have not lost my land legs} my wife bought me a 18ft mod-v alum. boat last week for my early b-day. it has no motor. so I would like to sell the rest to get mine ready.
