How much is this brand new Scott 3 1/2 HP engine worth?

A friend of mine was cleaning out his dad's house and found a brand new, still in the original box unopened box, Scott (McCulloch) 3 1/2 HP outboard engine. It is white and had never been out of the box. Does anyone have any idea what to ask for it or what it is worth. He wants to sell it so I am trying to get some info for him. I have it listed on a bass fishing forum I belong to and will next put it on Craigslist once I find out how much it is worth and if nobody notifies me they are interested in it.
It is in the For Sale section of the Bass Fishing Forum - Austin Bass Fishing website forum page with the 3 photos of it. The engine is located in the Austin, Texas area. I will watch this forum to see if anyone has any info or how much I should ask for it.

If I were you I'd put it on ebay where it'll be seen by someone who would want it for the collector value. Make sure to take care of that box it came in. I've found many antiques and collectables are worth much more with the original packaging. Sometimes the packaging is worth nearly as much as the item. Some collector with $$ is going to go crazy for the motor. It's a fantastic find!

there was a thread somewhere with a guy that collected these. Breaking rules should be allowed whn helping collectors.

Still looking around to see what the motor is worth. It has never been out of the box. Have it posted on Craigslist and some fishing forums, and sent some emails to some collectors, and waiting on some replies for best offer.

These little motors are very common. But new in the box is special.It's value is strong but very narrow.
Watch ebay every day you will probably see the same motor many times, used of course.
You may have to list it on a place where folks have time to stumble on it and set up so they know your looking for the highest bid.
All you have do is find 2 collectors that have some dough to spend.
I think you can list t it for free at The Antique Outboard Motor Club Website - AOMCI.org the antique outboard club.I don't think you have to be a member.DON"T ASK WHAT IS IT WORTH.If you look through the webvertize listings I don't think you will see a price on anything.
