hey I'm thinkin bout selling my boat trying to get a realistic idea of how much I could get. The boat is a 79 Crestliner 15 foot bowrider. I completely gutted and re did the entire boat new stringers and floor, marine carpet, seats, and vinyl. New steering system, new teleflex guages , and new interlux paint. The 85 horse evinrude runs great power tilt n trim. A guy at work said even with everything redone, including the 97' galvanized trailer I should only expect 1000 dollars usually id trust him but then he said hed be more than happy to give me 1000 to take it off my hands. Is he right only a thousand seems aweful low I spent 2000 for the boat and the new stuff to fix it up any help would be appreciated thanks

Yes pics would help. Sadly though, you're probably only looking at a max of about $2000 I would say. It's a smallish boat and I don't know if people are afraid of the age or if just most people like the sleek lines of a newer boat. I have noticed though that if you sell in the spring/summer and really emphasize that the boat is turn-key you can maximize your price. Include pictures and maybe even video of the boat in action (preferably on the water) and it really helps.

Re: how much $$ should I ask for?

there are basically 2 plans of attack

1 price it to move
2 set your price and wait

sounds like you're looking for a buyer that would appreciate a well-kept boat that they won't have to do all the work on. do you have receipts and pics to document your work?

in that category (15' bowrider) you've probably mostly got first-timers shopping. they quite possibly haven't learned the joys of a rotting floor in a cheap boat and won't appreciate what you've done since they see so many similar boats for cheaper.

have you looked to see what else is for sale in that size? do you have time to wait? is it worth waiting for that much extra money?
