how much should I pay

as the title says, how much should I pay to have the stern drive of my 1979 merc resealed ? Also how much more excluding parts should I expect to replace the gimbal bearing and bellows? Is this something a guy with plenty of auto experiance can do? I have rebuilt many a muscle car in my day, but I do not have any specialty marine tools. What would I need? I saw here on Iboats the gimbal and reseal kit(not for the lower unit) for the transom was on sale for $150.00. So... any help? thanks Bob

PS is there anyone here in southeastern WI that would be reasonable?

Download the service manual from the Adults Only Section. It'll have the info you need to determine if you want to tackle it or not.

You can do this yourself if you have the time... I just finished this job on my 79. I'm an auto mechanic also. It was my first time working on a sterndrive, and it wasn't very hard. Lots of research, bought some special tools, a used bellhousing, and a little help from this forum..
