Re: how much TM for a 18' bass buggy pontoon

I have the same kind of toon and had the same problem.I wanted to go to a larger TM but found out the wires that was installed befor I bought to boat wasn't even big enough to run the 48thrush that was on there and that's why it didn't last.So I upgraded my wireing and put in a heavy duty plug end and a heavy duty on off switch, just to be on the safe side.I'm sure that won't be your case, but you might want to check it befor you buy a new TM. That's just something a I didn't think about when I bought the boat.
But to answer your question,I went to a 24 volt system kind of overkill for my toon, but I do alot of fishing, and my wireing is updated it should last a long time. But that's just me,what you had is probably just fine to go back to.:)

I have a 20 footer and just put a MotorGuide WL 55 on it. This replaced a older 45 with a gator mount. The new TM has a small footpring mount, 12V, and is wireless which really unclutters the front of the toon. The power is ok, but you are not going to muscle the toon around in 15-20 mph winds which are common down here. I just stay home if that windy.
