How much vinyl ?

I'm starting my 19' bayliner seat restoration and I need to know how many yards of vinyl to buy. The vinyl I'm buying is 54" wide and I'm going to recover all the seats, motor cover and all the side rails. Can somebody thats redone their interior help me out ? O' it's a bow rider with 2 jump seats in the back and back-to-backs for driver / passenger.<br /><br /> Thanks, Troy

I asked my dad this question because he is the interior designer in the family for all the car and boat projects we have. There was a wholesale shop he used to buy his vinyl at for a buck a yard so he bought it by the roll and stocked up on it. As long as you weren’t picky about which color you wanted he had the industrial sewing machine and enough material to make what ever you wanted. He advised that you have to take the old stuff off anyhow to use for a pattern, so measure it when you take it off and don’t forget to get extra for the piping if you want to use it. Oh, I had to edit my post because I almost forgot something, DO NOT use any kind of magic marked or marking pen on you interrior when your making it, we found out the hard way after six months or so it will bleed through.

Just a thought, but I did not find vinyl a major cost when redoing my seats. Foam was the biggest cost, and preping the replacement wood was the next.<br /><br />Ordering extra was not a big deal, and afterwards I found places I could use it around the house.

back to back seats are a pain. i just order new from Ebay. and recovered the bow, and jump seats. you can also buy jump seats.

Any thoughts on a good place to purchase marine-grade vinyl? Is it the same stuff as a fabric store? I want to make a triangular cushion for the bow of my Center Console, something removable. I think this would help with the girlfriend, she wants a place to lay-out in the boat, and I want to be able to take it out when there is the peace and quiet of no girlfriend in the boat.

I hope this is not against forum policy, but I went to http://yourautotrim.com They were very helpful and I even found the exact same vinyl as the original. <br /><br />I would add that you need to make sure the thread is UV resistant. Again, I bought the thread from the same place.<br /><br />Do a search on this forum and you will find other links, this is just the one I used and reccomend

Thanks Jack L. I just ordered some foam-backed vinyl from that site!!! It was a closeout that was on sale for next to nothing!!! Also got the foam pad I need from the same site. Thanks so much for the help.
