How much would you pay for a simple 80's/90's aluminium semi-v 14' footer with a galvanized trailer all in good shape??

The trailer would be a known brand that can support 1000# with a single axle, not a home made trailer.

something like a 55-60" inch wide that weight around 200#

I'm browsing craig list and such and for most of them they are asking around 1400$, I'm wondering what they are actually worth. Is the price jacked up because it's the begining of the season?

So what would you consider a fair deal for such a boat.

Jeez - In 2004 I bought a similar 14' aluminum boat with a semi-rusty generic trailer for $300, no motor. I eventually sold it to my cousin a few years later for the same price. About four years ago, I purchased a 12ft 1970s Starcraft that was painted like a Smurf. I think that I paid $400 at a boat dealer for that without trailer or motor, but it did have a carpeted deck built in, swivel seats, and oars.

The first one I bought off the side of the road, and the second I spent some time scouring the Clist and dealer websites until I found a tiny boat at a reasonable price.

The boat & trailer in the picture look nice, so they probably command a little more but I don't know why prices would all be so high. Depending on your needs, maybe you need to look for one that has a little more of the "used" look. It will function the same but save you a bunch of $$

well to be fair, most of the time, they are asking 500-700$ for the trailer and around 700/1000$ for the boat.

The asking price for a 10 years old 1246 or 1446 jon boat is around 700/800$ without trailer.

Put a decent outboard on that boat and I might make it into the $1,200 range ... But, at least here in TN I'm pretty confident I could get a decent open fishing boat like that with an outboard for under $1,000.

It's a nice lookin' boat, but I'm not sure I'd pay $1,500 for it without a motor.

Do you think the same price range for a 1436 riveted jon boat is also too much? I can get a 1236 for 700$ and a 1436 for 800$ used, they are 10 years old.

Here in Wisconsin a boat like that Gamefisher with a trailer in that condition, Top dollar would be around the $800.00 mark. Then you never know I just seen listed an early 1970s 50hp Mercury that doean't even run for $600.00 firm. They'll be keepin it for awhile I think.

Here again in Wisconsin a small trailer like that can be found all year round from $150.00 to $400.00 The $400.00 ones usually sit unsold until the end of summer when someone gets desperate.

It's tough cuz your Canada prices are silly. My dad got this a couple years ago in the Fall for $600:

14'. It had an 80's 5HP Mercury on it (single cylinder) that we sold for $200 (it ran but was kinda rough) in favor of a 4HP twin cylinder Evinrude that we already had.

I don't understand why the used market is so high around here, it's also the same thing for cars, a 4-5 years old car will be much much cheaper in the US even if the price for a new one is pretty much the same.

I go south of the border to buy a boat, I will have to read a bit about the requirement to import a boat, might be too much trouble too.

Because people are willing to pay that much in your area. If they weren't, the price would go down.

That's exactly what I would be able to find around my neck of the woods EZ.

Don't just assume a new one will be much more than a used boat. A couple years ago my dad was looking at used 10 to 15 year old 16 ft plain aluminum boats with bench seats at around $1400 to $1600. On a whim he looked at a brand new one and it was only $1500. He likes to buy boats and he pretty regularly picks up 14 footers with trailer in the $500 range.

Shingo, just hang in there and keep looking, bud. The right one will find you. I think you've pretty well dialed in what you want and what it will take to get it. Now it's just a matter of finding it. I know you're ready to splash, but don't push too hard or you'll end up settling for less. Been there done that.

Hi,

I'm from the same area and it's true that up here the price are on the high side. For your needs (I've seen your previoust post) and resale value, definately stick with aluminum. 14 ft. will give you a flatter bottom. The only advantage of a 12 footer is that it can easily be transported on top of a pickup truck.

Forgot the outboard, as it's a long shaft, but the guy said he also want to sell the boat (14 ft. alum) and trailer, although he didn't specify a price. Might worth a call: johnson 20hp moteur hors-bords et chaloupe 14'+remorque - Laval / Rive-Nord Vedettes, bateaux ? moteur ? vendre - Kijiji Laval / Rive-Nord

As a guide, a brand new 14 ft. without trailer, is 1500$ so a used one should be priced accordingly LOT DE CHALOUPES DAKOTA POLAR KRAFT - Longueuil / Rive-Sud Vedettes, bateaux ? moteur ? vendre - Kijiji Longueuil / Rive-Sud

I'd go see the Gamefisher guy, show him that the new ones worth 1500$, and offer him 1000$ (that you'll show him in cash, so he will know you're serious and not just another tire kicker) as a final and only offer. If he didn't want, walk away.

There's also a 16 ft. without trailer, the seller is asking for 525$, which is reasonable http://montreal.kijiji.ca/c-autos-et-vehicules-bateaux-vehicules-marins-canoes-kayaks-rameurs-chaloupe-aluminium-16-pieds-W0QQAdIdZ459392974

I'd also keep in mind that what people post for prices, is what they want to get. You determine the selling price when the seller accepts your offer.

Well I bought a boat, I think I found a great deal.

car%20toppers%20005.jpg

I bought a princecraft fisherman 14' with a 15 hp yamaha, both are from 1999. There was no trailer but the price was 1200$ for something in such a good shape it was a great deal.

It was also exactly what I was looking for as far as weight and size.

The price, 1200$, There was other ads with the same boat and same engine size but in mercury with a trailer and they were asking 3500$ The guy who sold it to me, sold his house and was moving out, so it had to go this weekend. Like he said, it's priced to move.

Now I just need to find a boat trailer.

Congrats! You'll love that combo, and it looks really clean. Is the Yam 15 a 4-stroke?

You friggin' STOLE that!!! That would be a real good price in my area let alone yours!!! Congrats! Trailer should be no big deal to find for that. Even a new one shouldn't be real pricey for that size.

The engine is a 2 stroke
The boat was 2 hours away but it was worth the trip.
