How Much...

I have a 1975 Checkmate MX-15. It is in presentable condition. It has a 1960s 85 h.p. Johnson Super SeaHorse mounted on a jackplate. It's sitting on a trailer from the 1970s. All lights work and it is also presentable. I'm just wondering what the boat as a package is worth. It's good to know in case I ever need to sell it for emergency reasons.

Re: How Much...

Not my kind of boat, so it wouldn't be worth anything much to me. But... make sure you have the paperwork (title or tranferable registration) for both the boat and trailer. If you don't, start the wheels in motion to get them.

I will not even consider buying a boat that's missing the paperwork I need for a seamless transfer of ownership. Life's too short, and there are too many used boats available, for me to waste ANY time or effort straightening that out.

Re: How Much...

Some pics would certainly help. It's probably not going to be much though. An old electric shift outboard isn't going to be worth much due to some crucial unavailable parts in the lower unit and the control box.

Re: How Much...

Some photos would really help out. If the motor is in pristine condition...and the boat has been stored indoors it could easily be worth more than $750.

I'm gonna put the boat on ebay with a very high reserve and see where the bidding stops.

Why dont you just look around on the net for boats like yours for a good estimate value of this boat ( or posting some pics as suggested so we can help ya ).

I just Hate it when people Waste my Time.. ( using ebay to calculate an average value of something )

YD.

PS. A guy at the shop got one that was costing the guy storage fees for 500 bucks in good structural and fair cosmetic condition.. so dont think your sittin on a gold mine.

I take it Checkmate boats aren't the most popular in these woods.

Or you could take the time to post some pics and get some more informed responses to your questions.

x2 on the pics. Thats the only way any of us will know what kind of shape its in to give you an informed estimate of what someone, or myself would pay. I do like those old Check Mates. I almost bought one before I found the Sea Ray.

Re: How Much...

Checkmate made some boats that would be in high demand and also some that would not be worth very much depending on condition.

Some photos would give us a chance to give you a good ballpark.

Re: How Much...

Let me re-format this question. What do mint-condition circa. 1970s Checkmates sell for (+/- 15 foot range)???
