How much does an 1988 17.5 foot larson with a 4.3 OMC way on the trailer. Looking at new trucks, however need to tow the boats still. There is a Ridgid hitch ClassIII that claim 3500lbs. First of all thats the hitch and not the truck(no spec on web site). But is that enough? this old boat is heavy.

Re: How much.......

don't know how much yers weighs. i ask my city garbage dump attendant who has a big truck weigh scale at the site if i could weigh mine. they said no problem. no charge either. i do have to tow it to their scale though.
as for the truck. the owners manuals i have, have towing capacity listed. you could check there. then just make sure the hitch ya get is appropriate for yer application. i went with a little over for my rig. a class III/IV. though i'm not set up for class IV. just a thought.....

Larson Senza 175 and a Lazer 180 with a 3L motor weighs 1950#

The Larson Citation DC 190 with a 3L weighs 2250#

Add 1000# for gas, gear, batteries, trailer, and 4.3L engine, and you are at 3000# plus. I hope you have brakes on your trailer as you are required to have them if the trailer weighs over 3000#

With the right towing package, the Chevy Blazer, Cherokee, and Ford Explorer, can tow twice that much. Even the little Jeep Liberty can tow 5000# But the tiny suv's are much less.
