How my spring look to y’all?

1979 6 hp Johnson. Runs and pumps beautifully. I currently have 1 issue. My recoil starter. The teeth in the gears of the flywheel are not lining up with the teeth in the gears on my flywheel. I cleaned everything in chem dip then soaked everything in hot soapy water thinking this might be the issue. This spring looks suspect but it might be fine. I wanted some opinions before I started throwing $ at parts. Thanks!

I don’t know anything about these springs, but if it was a slinky it would be ruined.
