Looking at the distribution curve of the poll results, it would appear that the majority of the boat restorers are guys having mid-life crises. ;) :D

I think I was going through that when I bought the Batboat. That and plus I wanted it and the price was very good. ;)

I was in my 50's when I started my Retirement Project last fall. I am now in my mid 60's. That was on hell of a long winter.........

Man these guys in their 40s are flocking to the polls after being late to vote...looks like mid-life crisis may win this battle:D

I think folks in their 20s just don't usually have garages to store their rigs;)

I know I didn't have storage living in the college dorms:)

Now that I've had far too few opportunities to actually use my rig, I think I'll do a redo of what I just redone. The drivers' seat is about 1/4 inch off center. Can't spin 360 without rubbing on the gunwhale.

The batteries are all in the wrong locations creating a leaning effect @ WOT. Gotta extend all of the elect connections and put all three on the port side so I can run WOT from one end of the lake to the other like a big basser......

The forward compartment lids are about 1/4 inch too low. Can't use the battery box covers and still close the lids completely. When I moved the stereo up to the dash I didn't cover the original hole. That's an eyesore.

There isn't enough foot room between the two aft storage compartments. That's where I usually fish from and I have to angle my feet a bit which gets uncomfortable after a few hours.

And I think I can use thinner plywood in several areas reducing some weight.

My spouse will no doubt raz me for doing the redo of the just redone but she actually learned to like being out in the boat in the warm sunny weather. Hasn't used the fishing rig I bought her last Xmas but there's always next season that that. Unless I sell the boat to buy a Trike.

I suppose one could say that this entire summer has been one long shakedown cruise and now I can go back and fine tune everything. The 25hp rude I bought on ebay has been great. It jumps up out the hole with amazing ease. I originally was thinking about a 40hp but I'm glad I went with just a 25hp. as a 40 would have been too much hp. ;)

I'm 55 now as of Sept 13. I bought my boat makin sure that it was basicaly solid. It's amazing what you can find out with a small hammer. :)

I just was looking for something that I could use without road construction and am tired of roads. I have the urge to explore rivers more than lakes. While lakes are nice, they really don't go anywhere. :(

Re: How Old Are the Boat Restorers Out There?

27 here and am just about done enjoying a 1 year retirement after selling my house for a very healthy profit. Gutted and restored my boat 4 (5?) years ago and now I guess you can say I'm chopping it more then restoring it. My body thinks I'm older then what my birth certificate says though.
