I just picked up my Boat today, It has a 35 Horse Evinrude, I'm assuming its 78ish, can someone tell me the specifics so that I may purchase a service manual for it? Thanks in advance for the help.
Model # 35753H
Ser# E0006450

Re: HOW OLD IS MY 'RUDE?

I found a link off the Evinrude/Bombardier Website, off of their classic literature link. My model # matches for a 1977 model year. This boat had sat for two years and I thought I might have to work on it. I put it in the water yesterday with a Fresh can of gas and got her started after playing with the choke for a few minutes, she runs good! Thanks for the help.
Mike.

KC, you may want to consider a water pump kit in the very near future....It will save you headaches later...

Re: HOW OLD IS MY 'RUDE?

Thanks Kenny, This motor was gone over my a tech before the previous owner bought it and he never put it in the water. She may have a little dry rot, sure wouldn't hurt to put the pump kit in it. Sometimes she likes to "slip into neutral" under a load at about 3/4 throttle. It sounds almost like the prop is coming out of the water, or it's cavultating, the shift dogs aren't banging at all. I don't have power trim and it only does it intermittently...any ideas?

If it's not banging, it could be the prop spinning. Although the propeller is pin-drive, it also has a rubber cushion between the blade body part of the prop and the hub where the shear pin goes. Mark the hub against the prop with a magic marker, and take the boat out for a run. If the marks no longer line up, the prop is spun. A competant prop-shop can repair it.
Iboats carries replacement props if you want to go that route.
