How old is this motor?

I have a Hiawatha motor, 7.5hp<br />Model #850M3-25-7987A, Serial #43851481<br />I'm trying to find out what year it was made. Also any thoughts as to why it would only run when the throttle is wide open but dies when you slow it down? Thanks for your help!!

I dont have a reference for your model but<br />Im guessing it is built by Eska using a Tecumseh<br />power head. It probably has a low speed mix adj.<br /> you may just need to get it adj. right.Also<br />a dirty or gummed up carb could cause your problem.
