For a few months now I have been bending your ears about my 1989 Force 50. I have replaced Thermostat, water pump, rebuilt the carb, rebuilt the fuel pump, new plugs, installed a tell tale,
new plugs, decarb, new lower end seals and oil, compression is 150 on top cylinder 148 on bottom cylinder.

The engine seems to have been a very well maintained engine and I think I have made every effort to prepair for the upcoming season, is there anything that I have forgotten?

Second question....is this historicaly a reliable engine. Just looking for some piece of mind! :D

Make sure you have a good marine cranking battery tiller. NOT a deep cycle, a cranking battery...the bigger the better. For your 50. I would look for a 650 > 700 CCA battery.

With few exceptons, any engine is only as reliable as it's up keep.

Re: How reliable is it?

Thank you very much for the info, I do have a cranking battery! with 650 cca.....What is the deal with these motors, why do they require so much cranking amps?
