How shallow can a Mako 17 get in? I am wondering because I'd like to use it for fishing in the bay. Is this too big of a boat?

I found a 73 Mako 17, hull draft is 7 inches.Your actual draft would depend on your motor and the load.and how far you can trim up.
What bay and what is the typical depth?

I have no clue even as to what state luna madre is in - Ah - - - -have you measured from the water line to the bottom of the skeg? You can go quite a bit shallower if you tilt your engine up or take a risk of grounding and go like hell riding on top of the water on plane (but you better know the depth of the water pretty well).
