So does that mean that there is no legal foundation for the seperation of church and state?

Didn't bother to teach you that in the public school, did they EricKems. It's no wonder with all the public schools controlled by the NEA! The same people that bring cucumbers and condoms to your kids.

Ah, but they did Boom. I was just trying to enlighten and perhaps educate a few that didn't know this or don't want to except it.

Personally Boomer I believe the answer to the mystery is in my second to last sentence, item "b" ^

Ah, yes QC. They very definitely fall into that "mean (and selfish) people suck" syndrome. I should have seen it right away.8)

Since I have been in the PNW, I have coined a term to fit people that cannot stand things with substance. This fits from bread to politics. I say they have 'soft mouths'. They can't bear to 'chew' anything that has a little starch in it. The PNW abounds with people like that, both figuratively and literally.

Maybe it's no different anywhere, but I do know that some parts of the country do like a good chewy Jewish Rye and a stout San Francisco Sourdough. But you will just about die trying to find them here.:'( Same with voters!

Corporate tough love is becoming non-existant. It has been supplanted by misplaced compassion and an attempt to achieve spirituality and salvation through sports.

Ooh, I can hear it now!

Well there is one who most often sounds ridiculously liberal .......
So much so he's the one I had in mind when I wrote "using language that isn't to be taken seriously".

It seems that i was way off the mark on that one.:%

This has long been a mystery to me. I have had and have many relatives and aquaintances who are as conservative as you can get. Conservative in all the areas, socially, fiscally, morally, religiously, and they still vote Democratic.

Beats the s*** out of me. It must be something in the Kool-Aid!

Here's the real mystery: you have personal knowlege of many examples of intelligent, educated, patriotic Democrats, some religious, many of whom share many of the same values as yourself.

Yet in spite of overwhelming personal experience to the contrary, you continue to buy in to the portraits of Democrats as painted for you by cable news shows, radio talk shows, random internet bloggers, or whereever it is you happen to get your news.

hard to figure, eh?

Read the book A Familiar Exposition of the Constitution of the United States by Joseph Story. He was a Supreme Court Justice appointed by James Madison. It explains no establishment and free exercise. You ACLU and liberal types miss allot by your humanistic beliefs. You have to understand what was going on in colonial America and Europe at the time concerning government mandated churches.
Contrary to many people's opinions the federal government is not allowed to persecute somebody because they go to a particular church. Also you can not be barred from national office because of your religious beliefs.

You said "It explains no establishment and free exercise." You meant "it explains the author's opinions regarding no establishment and free excercise." My own opinion is that Madison got it exactly right, and Jefferson went too far, and the supreme court has gone even farther, and now we're on a very slippery slope and we need to nip it in the bud like right now. I just don't think they've stepped outside the scope of their authority.

"Contrary to many people's opinions the federal government is not allowed to persecute somebody because they go to a particular church." That's a joke, right? Do you really know of anybody who believes the federal government can persecute people because of their religion?
