checking for shorts in my oile pressure guage lines, I found none, so I decided to pull the sender unit. when I took it off seen no defects, but I did hear a constant bubbling sound comming from inside the block, is this normal. I'm sure it is. considering I had just had the engine runnign for a while.

More importantly when I removed the sensor, I notice that it was not on all that tight, so how tight should I put it back on, should I screw it all the way in?

Thanks,

Thomas

Re: how tight?

First, check all connections to the guage and make sure they are clean and tight. You could easily have a loose wire on one of the terminals. That would cause jumping.

Next, test the gauage:

1) Remove the sender wire from the guage
2) Turn on power
3) Oil Pressure guage should read 0

1) Turn off power
2) Connect sender terminal to Ground (G or Gnd) terminal
3) Turn power on
4) Guage should read full

If above test work guage is ok

Next, test the wire from the sender to the guage:

1) Next, disconnect sender from gauge
2) Take a run of wire and temporarliy connect sender to guage termial
3) Start boat

If all these test show ok I would hook a mechanical pressure guage up to the engine and rule out a bad or flaky oil pump or other engine problem

Last resort I would replace sender, wire from sender to guage and check all other gauage connections carefully. Last I'd also replace the guage.

Just my .02

Some where between Rare,+ Never.....

If the Gauge Tests Alright by Grounding it....
Change the Sender... They Do go Bad... There is No "Looking Bad"....
