how to add anchor? 2855 cierra

I have a 1996 Cierra, it doesn't have an anchor system. It does have a rope/chain hole, I but no idea how I can add. If anyone has added, pictures or your help would be great to read how you added to your boat.

Has to be access to the anchor locker someplace so you can tie off the bitter end of the anchor line. How about from inside the boat?

The anchor locker is easily accessed, but if you notice in the picture there is a big single cleat in the center. So how have people added them? I can't be the first to add, I mean its a 28ft boat.

The good news is that you already have a bow roller/pulpit. So, you will just need to add a windlass (if that is what you mean by "anchor system"). In the thread above, I first added the bow roller, then the next year added the windlass.

The cleat on the bow will have to go . . . probably you will want a set of cleats towards the rubrail to tie up and the secure the anchor in rougher conditions.

Plan on about $2K to add a windlass

You have a bow pulpit, an anchor cleat and a hawser pipe. That black thing to he right of the anchor cleat is the hawser pipe. That will feed down into your anchor locker. What you don't have is a windlass. On that size boat, you will use 1/4" chain and 1/2 inch line. You don't really need a windlass. I have 30 ft of 1.4" chaing and 200ft of 1/2 line and a 25LB Manson supreme. My wife hauls it by hand.

If you're single handed, then yes a windlass would be very useful. With a mate, bump into and out of gear to advance on the anchor while a mate pulls in the slack line/chain and feeds it down into the locker.
