How to add fluid to a 150 Yamaha hydraulic steering?

Where is the reservoir for fluid? Boat is boxed in around steering and you can not see anything. Is there a reservoir?

What year is the boat?

Normal is bleed/added at the HELM

Thanks so much. It is a Yamaha. It is a friends boat and I don't know year. I did not know you could get to it from outside of enclosure.

If you don't see the plug then see if it has a cover all around the back of the helm that may come off

Hi. Not sure what type you have...but usually oil is added from a bottle and tube, to the helm. At a head of level above the fill hole too.
There is then a bleed procedure to follow. This basically involves full travel of the steering to one side, whilst the bleed point at the ram itself are cracked open. Then likewise for the other direction of travel.
All that said, that's the thing to do after first installation and when commissioning.
You shouldn't loose oil (generally speaking) after that....all things being well. It is a closed system..or should be at least.

My neighbor has a Yammie 150 and hydraulic steering. Fluid is added to the helm, via a cap in the fiberglass dashboard, left of the steering wheel. Unscrew the cap, screw in the hydraulic fluid hose (like a gear lube pump hose), and then connect the hose to a qt of hydraulic fluid. It helps to make a vent hole in the hydraulic fluid container.
