I need to replace the vinyl top covering the cabin in the picture. I considered removing the vinyl altogether and fairing and painting the top but Geez! I hate sanding.
Anyone ever attempt a top like this in vinyl? Seems like pretty straight forward folded corners and trim to cover seams. i also have a heat gun to help with folds. What do you think, recover or fair and paint?

I'm not a fan of vinyl tops on anything. I've been wondering what the status was on this project.

I guess I need to make the final decision when I get the old vinyl off and go from there. I agree with TD I like paint better, but sanding makes me whine like a little girl.

Project status is a bit stagnant. I have been spending what little time I have doing about 15 years back maintenance work on my mother-in-law's home. It will going up for sale soon.

My next boat project is to get the vinyl top off and get the final top coats of paint on the hull and in the cockpit. Then there is the bottom coating to do...rubrail, engine trans...it never really ends. We are planning a re-launch date next spring, but honestly, who knows.
Carrying on..

From the looks of your top, it might be nice as a vinyl top to help reduce the glair when you?re up at the wheel. Seems a nice shiny coat of paint would glare like crazy. Maybe non slip paint would work though.
