I'm still the wrong gender, n' I appologize fer the incorrect thoughtless previous post I got properly spanked over. That said: the ZOO seems like a great place fer a first date but not so great a place ta pop the ol' question, (at least to a feller with only one brain cell). Since there is no spectacular mountains etc, maybe a spectacular man made place that is unique to Holland. Those fancy dykes that keep the sea out!!! (I'd sure wanna check 'em out if I was blessed to visit yer Country). The Ocean IS always SPECTACULAR, (but: she does not like boats), and so are those amazing storm walls, (very near the ocean, [maybe: where there is a huge and historically very significant river]). My $.02. JR

I still say RUN!!! they should pass a law that no one can get married be for 35. Hope fully you know what you're doing by then. I didn. take the plung till36 and it only lasted about a year after it was legal. Should've throwed that one back the night I met her { she tried to run over one of her other x-husbands,,,spent 6 months in the loony bin and came out with a crazy check,,,S.S.I....so now she sets around and does nothing and weighs over 300 lbs }. Any how, truthfully if she doesn't like to do the things you like to do it will always be a problem. Trust me, sold 2 different Harleys for women and I should have kept the Harleys { look what they are worth today }....ANIMAL

Animal, you're an animal. It's great to have some differences. Who want's to marry themselves (clone)? Where is the challange in that? Yes, you should have basic similarities as a foundation. For example, if you are a Christian, you should marry a Christian. But, some differences are a must. For example (a poor one ), if you're a boy, don't marry a boy.

Women are women, men are men and in that is the challange.

Here is something really good in the fact that she doesn't like boats. He can go out on the boat for some guy time. What is important is she doesn't mind him going out on the boat, as long as he doesn't spend an unreasonable amount of time there.

Turin, there will be a lot of times you will want out of marrage because of what ever reason. Be sure you're willing to stick it out, before you get married.

Ya but bro if you take the boat out it better be a single seater and you better bring back lots of fish or else you've been out chaseing bathing suits {pictures of you catching the fish helps}. And her idea of a reasonable time is way different from yours, remember that. My girlfriend and her son was out fishing till after midnight last night and went back out at 7 this morning and won't be back till sometime after dark. Don't bother me because #1, I don't fish #2 I'm in the prosses of building an 8 foot long 35 hp little hot rod speed boat { called a SeaFlea }, and #3, She's 60 and I'm 50 so we don't have to worry about being chased by the young ones { besides she says it would give me another heart attack if I caught one of them young'ens but I sure have fun looking even when she's there,,,,should see her son and I watch NOKI vision on speed channel,,,she just frowns and goes to bed. She tells me to look all I want but bring it home to mama. Great gal but nether one of us wants to ever be married to any one again. I spent most of my life single and loved every minute of it. To many women and not enough time...ANIMAL P. S. My moma didn't name me ANIMAL for nothing ya know.

Animal, you and your gal have that in common, that makes that relationship work.

Trust is very important, if you are trust worthy, your gal should know and trust you.

I find the people who do not trust anyone else, usually can't be trusted themselves, and figure everyone else is just like them.

Belive me man, you can have all the toys you want while you are boyfriend-girlfriend but as soon as the m word happens I'd bet within a year she'll want you to sell the boat. You don't have as much time as you used to have, might have a kid on the way, starts causeing problems between the two of you, to expensive to maintain, any reason will do. They always want you to sell your #1 toy so they don't have to compete with it. Been there done that. Should have kept the toys, now they are both gone { and there has been more than one women and more than one toy }....ANIMAL P.S. Still vote RUN!!!!

There is no way this can be successfully answered by someone else other than yourself I think. Everyones format for this is probably different.
Just make sure you mean it...and make sure she understands that you do......the rest is window dressing.
Absolute Great Luck to you tho'!!!! Its one of the best things you can do if you do it right.

about the she not like to go out boating we have a solution for that i go out with a friend of mine the girls stay at home (except when its 30Celcius)...
and we go out and thy have a good time to..
and she cant sell the boat because it ain't mine...
only the engine is mine the boat is my dads...

EXCELLENT advice. Just be yourself. Try to make the proposal event special, but nothing extravagant. The fact that you are proposing will make it special enough to her. If she needs/wants a three ring circus and fireworks, then she's NOT worth marrying. If she's the one, you could give her the ring over a bowl of corn-flakes and it will the most romantic thing ever to happen to her, at least as she re-tells it later.

Be yourself, and stage your proposal in a situation that would ordinarily be special, that is if you were not proposing.

And ask her parents permission to marry her FIRST! Yeah it's cliche and old-fashioned, but it is only proper respect. Unless you plan to pay for everything yourself and never to see her parents during your married life.

Congratulations, and good luck. Just remember, marriage takes work, and is more give than take, on both sides. Hopefully both of you will realize quickly that you can never give up, and will work tirelessly to keep your marriage together. My wife and I finally got it through our heads and now seem to only have each other's happiness in mind. That is after our children.

This is just my opinion of course.

Seriously I love my inlaws. They have almost always dealt me a fair hand. They have loaned me money to buy a truck, my first house, and now my second house. They have helped tremendously on the new house too, couldn't have done it without them.

Seeing as she does not like boats, I would be sure that you have the boat of your dreams in your possession before you ask her to marry you. Otherwise, your dream boat will forever remain a dream.
