How to bring the color back?

Thanks WoG. After I get through with the 1st part, Ive got to put a finish coat on it. Still got a lot of scratches on it though. :blue: I need to get to wet sanding. But for right now, im just going to let it ride till I get back from vac.

Got to see what Meguire's has for a follow up to the Ultra coat compound. Need to pick up a small pad for the upper/ top part too. Its a different color to, so I need to start with a clean pad anyways. :joyous: I'm thinking a 4/5" pad cause of the tarp snaps that line the bow. It will work between them a lot better than that 8" will.

Take the snaps out mate. They probably need to be re-caulked anyways. Oh..and how did the other side come out? Kinda looked like old repairs to me in your first pic.

I would learn to live with the scratches if I were you. I actually I live with them myself and I prefer them over wet sanding, here is why..

On a brand new boat, you got about 30 mils of gelcoat out of the factory, sometimes less than that. That is about 0.76 millimeters. Every regular buffing and polishing - no wet sanding - takes off about 1-2 mills out of that. This gives you about 15-30 years of gel life before you have to paint. If you wet sand, your are reducing this time significantly. What "pros" don't tell us when they go to town wet sanding to give us the pleasure of mirror finish is that they sacrifice the longevity of the gel for this look. But this is actually good for their business because It would cost about 5-6K to re-gel an 22 foot boat at a "pro" shop

Yacth Dr......no repairs...just buffing....trying to make it look respectable. I hate to be on the water in a boat that looks pass its prime. :lol: its ONLY a "96" model.

I do need to tighten up some of them. I think they are pop-riveted on. Got a cover that goes over the whole front bow...fits around the snaps and front 'ole shiz; handle.

Thanks Scott.......I do like them red boats. All my stuff over the yrs has been red till I bought my last truck ( dark grey ) and this boat. That red looks good going down the lake.

:joyous: Even the old red ones come back sometimes. I just hit mine with HF polisher and some inexpensive compound yesterday. Still have to hit it again with the Finesse-It II today.

Yea....I got to close to my #'s too. Messed up 1 or 2. And the some of the striping. Where is a good supplier of striping. Need to start a thread on striping.....how to! OR find it on YOU TUBE :lol::lol:
