I want to make a windshield for my boat but did not know if it is possible to do. I don't care what kinda material it is I just want it to look more modern. Has anyone done this before. Or are you just fitting a Sheild from another boat on your current one. It currently has a walk through, I am thinking that I want to do individual ones, what do you think?

I am working on a 1990 Procraft F&S F180

Making 2 separate windscreens can be done similar to this thread's suggestion, but also found on fleabay & CL depending on what you're looking for.

There are other make your own windshield sites..

Here's one... Google can help find a bunch

That is kinda what I was looking for thanks. The only thing I have to figure out is how to make my base, cause it will be completely custom as I don't want it to look anything like the factory one. Any opinion on two single shields over the walk through ski type.

Re: How to build a Custom Windshield?

The Glen-L site build shows the way the author made a wooden buck & formed aluminum channel around it, creating his own custom made molding, and then the windshield too.

The separate 2 pc windshield may require more substantial bracing, both for the windscreen & the console as it won't be cross braced with the other side (when center section is open). Even the best keepers could tend allow the center section to flop around when underway. So when running, every boat I've been on w/ a walk thru, kept it closed & latched.

'Creating' your own may be easier to do 2 pcs as mirror images rather then 1 larger double ended windshield. Screw the buck down, make side 1 trim, unscrew it flip it end for end & make the mirror image side 2...............

My $0.015 :)

I'm kinda confused but I don't think that's your fault cause I'm at work and on my phone so concentration is not all there. I'll take a pic of the wind shied area so I can give an idea of what I'm thinking
