more than one way to skin that cat. We'd need more details about the bow area to say for sure. Crestliner did a neat thing where the bow cushions would fold to the middle and had a half circle cut on the edge of each side so that you could drop a seat post down to the deck plate..instant deck!

All depends on what you want to do with it and what you have to start with.

Welcome to the iboats.com forum. I built one for my father-in-law out of 3/4inch plywood covered with carpet. Removed the cushions and fastened it through the storage compartments under the forward seats. Cut out access hatches over the storage compartments for anchors and stuff. The hatches also provided easy access to the fasteners for quick removal/replacement of the deck. Used a smaller piece of 3/4 ply as a doubler under the pedestal seat mount. Sorry, no pix!

He's looking for something removable though. I assume he plans to use the front for fishing when he's out with his buddy, and return it to bow seating when he goes out pleasure boating with the wife and kids, etc.

I understand that and my approach was easily removeable with two or three wingnuts. If it just lays in there with nothing but gravity holding it, I can stretch my imagination far enough to see it getting sucked out of the boat while being trailered. In addition, my FIL was a big guy and I had some concern that he could flip over backwards in the pedestal seat. Be safe!

I secured mine with straps screwed into the bottom of the deck that snapped to the outer walls of the seat bases. Even without the straps, there was no way the deck would blow out trailering. I ended up leaving it in all the time. The bow cushions fit snug directly over the deck. My seat base went through the casting deck and secured to the main deck in seat post base.
