Thanks for all your help with my last post... it seems that everyone thinks i need to hear this puppy run before any money is down. like i said, the solenoid is supposedly dead, so will it still start with the recoil starter? should anything else have to be tinkered with/tweeked? i'm heading back over today to get the year number and find out what sort of shifting it has... hopefully everything checks out! i dont know how else i could get something this cheap and have the chance of it running. my father and i are both mechanically inclined (his totally restored 1964 gto and my brother's 86 shaved, hot rodded gmc pickup speak for themselves)... anyways... thanks for the help!

Yes, with the recoil starter {rope} It should start or you should at least be able to see if it is getting spark. You would be surprised with the number of "cheap" motors Ive gotten that I can get running with just some minor tinkering :)

Pull the plugs first thing.... if there the old ones it should tell you alot... also look for any leaks of any sort... LU, seals, Gaskets...don't see any and things look ok...turns over freely I'd offer him $400 and take her home... might be a different post but what condition is the "Boat" in? and why is he selling it?
