how to check my fuel pump?

I think I have a faulty fuel pump. My motor is a 1993 225 HP Ocean Pro. The motor runs fine on idle for a couple of min. then it seems to run out of fuel. The motor will work fine if you pump the bulb. I removed the top hose of the pump and turned the motor but it did not shot out any fuel. The pump has the connection for a vro but I am not using it and the plug is not connected. Can that have something to do with my problem can someone help please.

Sorry, should have looked closer, you have a VRO.

I had the same issue this weekend. Boat stalls unless you manually pump the ball to pressurize the fuel system. My mechanic has ordered a new VRO, which I guess us a fuel pump / fuel and oil mixer. I guess if you're not using the VRO unit, you can order a separate non VRO fuel pump. Anyway, I'll post back and let you know if this fixes it.
