Hello,<br /><br />I am trying to chk the choke operation on 2000 Merc, Elect atrt, 9.9 HP. Having a hard time at first start only. After that will be okay when warm.<br /><br />Thank you.

Start your engine,pull the choke out. If engine dies, choke is working.

Before trying to start, do you squeeze the primer bulb till its firm ?

Yes, when cold start, i always prim a primer til firm and prime the engine's choke and primer also.<br /><br /> Thank you all for info.
