When did car motor,I did three puffs. However , with a hand pulled 7.5 what would be the technique ? And what would be good to excellent range be? thx

Personally,
I pull the heck out of it until I get the HIGHEST reading on the gauge, then repeat on the other cylinder.

Those gauges are notoriously inaccurate. How close the readings are will give you the best indication of internal condition. It's a two stroke, so just take out both plugs when doing your test, and don't worry about the throttle being open.

BTW, why are you doing a compression test? What's it not doing that you want it to do?

The flip answer is "not running". ;) I'm building one 7.5 out of two,a '75 and '76. One had a seized grearbox,dry with lots of white corrosion, and the other, a seized powerhead,stiff impeller ?.I've always read,first step with any motor is to check it.
