I disagree. I would not buy a lift to avoid painting--look at the costs (I paint every other year*). Also one more thing to go wrong. IMO lifts are good for docks where the water is too rough for mooring, or for extended absence (vacation home).
Not all marinas will let you install one and some slips are too narrow. You have to pay for power, I'm sure, which you don't otherwise need for your 20' boat.

*to the OP: the cost to paint a virgin bottom is probably 3x the repaint--ask your marina/dealer and keep this in mind when you get your quote for the first time.

thanks for all your feedback guys, i will be modifying the mooring cover to acommadate the cleats, and i will applying a bottom coat vs 271, and clean the boat every few weeks out of the water, that seems to be like the only way to keep the boat bottom free of crap.

I've kept my 18' fiberglass bowrider in a slip for the past 5 years now. The Sunbrella fabric snap on covers are all I've ever needed- with prop rods in the centers. Absolutely no water intrusion, even with some very nasty downpours. Boat stays wet from May to October, freshwater lake. Bottom gets algae growth, comes off with some acid and lots of water. No big deal.
