I know it is probably best to keep your tank either full or close to empty, but is that practical? Do they make an additive that will help resolve this problem. I am not a fan of additives but if there is one and it works I will use it.

What is the question, GB? What "problem" are you having?

ethanol like most alcohols has a characteristic of gathering water from the air and as a result water would end up it the bottom of the tank. Am I being paranoid about this?

Nope, not paranoid at all. Phase separation is real and it's here.

Your best friend will be a full sized water separating fuel filter. The kind with the translucent bottom and a drain make it easy to check and to drain off the water.

The reason that many recommend keeping the tank as full as possible is to minimize the area subject to condensation, portable tanks that can be sealed airtight when not in use excepted.

You need to make sure the filter is a 10 micron to catch all the gunk that the ethonol breaks loose. The 27 won't catch it all.
