Hello all,

I had a question about filling the hydraulic fluid reservoir on a 1992 Johnson 60hp (VJ60TLENE) the screw is horizontal so I'm not sure how your supposed to get fluid in it. I'm looking to fill it because the motor will very slowly bleed down. It comes back up with no problem though. I'm pretty sure it's not a leak because it will sit in my garage for a week with no fluid on the floor. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

If it's bleeding down, you quite possibly need to put new seals in it. It won't necessarily leak fluid out onto the ground.

To fill it, raise the motor to full up position, remove the fill screw then add fluid till it seeps out. Cycle the motor up and down a few times then re-lock the motor in the full raise position. Add more fluid and repeat. Do this until no more fluid can be added.
