I took it for service, rebuilt the carbs, sparks, impeller, runs grat but the idle is way too low. Easier for me to increases it then to haul it back. I would appreciate a photo of my specific model showing the location if that is at all possible.

Thanks

# 15 in the first picture is your idle adjustment screw for EACH carb. If you just got it back from the mechanic that worked on it, you shouldn't mess with that one (three). Picture two is #39 (bottom toward the right). That is your idle adjustment screw. You should have the motor idling at about 650 - 750 RPM while it is in the water in forward gear.

If you can't see my crappy picture, google your model number - J70TLERC - and when you get a hit on boats dot net, search for cylinder and crankcase parts.

good luck

Joe, your problem is that idle adjustment is part of the much greater linkage and synchronization procedure. Doing it any other way than as part of the L&S will screw up the engine tune.

Get a factory Service Manual ( www.outboardbooks.com ) and follow the procedure.

Does the engine stall at idle?
