How to get at head gasket on 1970 Evinrude 4.H.P.

I have a bad head gasket and my manual is 1000 miles away. The two lowest bolts on the head gasket won't come out while the lower cowl is in place. What do you do to get at those bolts? Thanks for your help.

Just loosen the bottom 2 bolts.-----They stay in the head when you remove the head !
