How to get at spark plugs '74 ford 302

I have been trying to figure out if it is possible to change the spark plugs on my boat without having to remove the manifolds. I can only get the spark plug socket over one plug on each side. Do I need a special tool to get at these or is the only way to remove the manifolds???

Sorry for the stupid question, I realized I did not have to use a spark plug socket and got them out with a stubby wrench. Stand by for the next stupid question I am sure it will be soon. Should be on the water in a week or two for the very first time!!
