Re: How to get rid of fiber glass oxidation?
Wife and I have tried several different products on our boat, with minimal results. We wiped the whole boat down with Vaseline and the white ozidation vanished. We have a two tone gray top with a large red stripe down the side, and several vinyl strips on our boat. I removed several teak accent pieces and hardware from the boat before I tried anything. Underneath all of these trim pieces the original color was still there. Vaseline will not match faded gel coat to the original color. It did get rid of my oxidation though. We applied it to the boat, and let it sit for 48 hours in the sun. Then we wiped it off, and tried to buff it out. Vaseline does not last very long in my opinion, but it has worked better then anything else I have tried. Eventually I will sand it down and try to restore it with compounds and such. This is just my .02 cents on Vaseline.
