what i have is a combination vacum gauge /fuel pressure checking gauge( looks just like a typical mechanics vacum guage) that i inhereted somewhere along the way, but have no owners manual for it, and i am wanting to check my mechanical fuel pump on my omc 4.3 caurberated engine what is the standard procedure for hooking this up does it go inline somehow or does it T into the fuel line i have used it for engine vacum test through various vacum ports etc, but not sure how to do the fuel related testing, dont want to hook it up wrong and end up with gasoline in the guage and ruining it. is it checking for vacum before the pump or pressure out of the fuel pump, fairly simle im guessing just not sure at this time ,thanks bfd72......

i'm thinking it measures pressure after the pump. i'm no expert. but i have a combo vac/pressure gage like you it sounds like. i just put a tee in line between where the fuel line connects to the carb. the hardest part is making the correct adaptor to get the gage in line. i didn't seem to ruin my gage by hooking it up that way, and i got my pressure reading that i was looking to get...... good luck

For pressure checks, you tee into the line between the carb and the fuel pump. But, DO NOT cut the steel line. If there is not enough room to install a tee fitting, Make a hose with the proper fittings and tee so you can install the setup by just removing the steel line and installing the hose setup.
If you make this setup using one section of clear hose, you can see if there fuel pump is sucking air.
The fuel gauge can also check the vacuum side of the fuel system to locate clogs or leaks.
