i have a 1984 Rinker bowrider with a Mercruiser 140,3.0 L, 4 cylinder and during summerizing I noticed that there was no fuel water seperator system. There was a inline fuel filter in the gas line, between the gas tank and the fuel pump. I am about to install a New Fuel Pump and i would to to know How to install a Fuel/Water Sepearator System? and also, Should i replace the In line fuel filter ? it looks like a car one.

Yes, replace the inline filter. As long as it's between the tank and the fuel pump. If your present filter is between the fuel pump and the carb, it shouldn't be, and you need a new steel fuel line between the pump and the carb. Then, install a fuel/water seperator between the tank and the fuel pump.

Yes...no need for both.
